That after match glow! It was good fun to get back on the pitch today for a friendly game. Feeling a bit rusty and unsure about myself on the pitch but it was good to be playing again! It’s all good fun and nice to play a no-pressure game. I don’t know what the score was, I didn’t keep track!! Finally consistently managing better with my cough and breathing. I’ve started trying to be more active and really build on my activity and fitness. This is super important for my wellbeing and without it, to be honest, it’s a real struggle. My confidence has taken a knock, which impacts my mood, or my mood impacts my confidence which waxes and wanes anyway. 🐓or the 🥚? A year ago my friend introduced me to Gousto boxes when she ordered me one. I thought it was great and it’s taken until recently to get on it again! Such a lifesaver. I’m really trying to manage and notice when I am emotionally eating to soothe myself with cake or chocolate. The answer is: A LOT! So with the Gousto box ordered, the Hope was that I will prioritise cooking my meals instead of having cake for lunch and biscuits for dinner because that isn’t very nourishing at all, not even for the soul when I’m eating like that. So far this week it has worked. I made this bastard Moussaka - which took ages and was so, so complicated for a recipe. The end result was boom though, so the bastard Moussaka can be maybe forgiven.

It’s World Mental Health Day which means everyone’s talking about it again. It’s great. Even when you’re tired of talking about it, the silver lining is that just 10 years ago, no one was talking about it. 15 years ago when I started having problems, it was shameful and to be hidden at all costs. The isolation I experienced from this stigma and suffering in silence was the worst loneliness I’ve ever known. You’re whole life becomes and fake facade to hide behind because the truth is so awful. You know what? That truth isn’t that awful. Talking and being honest has been a huge game changer in terms of being able to accept myself more as I am, rather than hating myself for who I am and what I’m not. Gone are the days of sneaking around on the Internet, trying to be anonymous, just to find other people out there who “get it”. It’s great! I can’t be bothered to talk about mental health very much today. I’m not feeling my best. That’s alright. Hopefully, days like this will get someone who needs to open up a bit and talk a bit more to do just that. The one thing I will say though, is that when you’re comparing yourself to functioning people who have jobs and turn up to rugby, have families and walk their dog and still look presentable and come in complete, dressed in clean clothes. You are not them. Everyone has their struggles and their successes. Compare yourself to who you used to be. See that growth and try to be proud of your growth. I’m trying really hard at this at the moment. I don’t always succeed but when I do, I feel much better about my perceived shortcomings. NEW VIDEO POST: A 100% vegan recipe 🌱 ; Vita CoCo PB Energy Bites! These are a staple snack for me. They’re great, they’re versatile and it turns out that they’re still great if you have to replace cashews with almonds due to poor snacking planning. They’re no-bake and essentially a one pot version of a blender recipe. They’re very hard to mess up or get wrong, and you can take my word for that. They also serve as a really good breakfast on the go, and 3 balls from this 14 ball recipe is equivalent for 1 of your 5 a day thanks to the dried fruit content!!!
